Breaking ground in real estate
CMU has a new real estate development and finance program – only the second of its kind in the state.
The M.J. Bowen Real Estate Development Program will begin next fall. It was created by Michael Bowen, ‘92, founder and CEO of WestWood Development Group LLC.
This program is unique because of its dual focus on development and finance in both commercial and residential real estate. In addition to general business classes, students will complete real estate focused courses in areas such as real estate principles and the economics of cities and regions. Students also will be required to complete an internship in the real estate industry.
“There’s a shortage of people with real estate education in the job market,” says Patrick Corcoran, director of the program. “Commercial real estate is a hot sector now. There are good job opportunities in the U.S. and abroad.” •
