Love, CMU style
Denise and Michael
It was September 1980, and the “scoping” encounter took place in the cafeteria of Woldt/Emmons. The relationship took shape when we competed against each other in a lobby/sports tournament put on by our RAs. The rest is history. We dated all four years as I continued to live in Woldt, and Michael lived in Emmons.
We were desk receptionists together, then became resident assistants our sophomore year. We started a Bible study together and were both involved with Residence Hall Assembly and Mortar Board. We both applied to the business school at Grawn Hall and majored in personnel management with minors in industrial psychology.
We were engaged our junior year. The student body honored us with the title of homecoming king and queen our senior year, and we were married in August 1984.
Today we are totally in love with each other and have been blessed with four beautiful children. We are grateful to CMU for being the vehicle in which our faith in God was strengthened and for the lifelong friends we made during those four fantastic years in the Mountain Town.

John and Valerie
Valerie and I met during our junior year at Central when we were both living at Park Place Apartments near Mount Pleasant High School. We were married in September the next year (we celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary last September) and lived in the married student housing complex on the northwest corner of campus.
