Daniels ‘owes it all to CMU’

Actor turned musician and CMU alumnus Jeff Daniels wowed an appreciative crowd at CMU in November with his personal stories and bluesy folk songs, including “Lifelong Tiger Fan Blues, Revisited.”

Daniels’ performance raised funds for CMU’s University Theatre program, and he also sold his two CDs that benefit his Purple Rose Theater in Chelsea.

Fellow alumnus John Genette, ’76, joined Daniels on stage to harmonize on “I Owe it All to You, CMU.”

The song drew plenty of laughs with lines like “I majored in beer, minored in sin,” and the refrain of “I gave it that ’ole college try, and despite my grade point, I’m alumni. I owe it all to you, CMU.” •
