1940s

Patrick Hackett, ’47, was inducted into the Michigan Transportation Hall of Honor for his commitment to promoting excellence in railroad transportation in Michigan through his work as a railroad legal adviser, trial lawyer, industry leader and counselor, and public educator. He wrote the Michigan Railroad Code of 1993, which modernized outdated and archaic railroad statutes. He also served as president of the Michigan Railroad Lawyers Association and the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel. He lives in Brighton.

1960s

John Kulhavi, ’65, financial adviser at Merrill Lynch, Farmington Hills, was named to Research Magazine’s “The Winner’s Circle” list.

Fran Card, ’67 MA ’71, has published Seana has CP, a children’s book for ages 3 to 7 that tells the story of Card’s granddaughter, who has Cerebral Palsy.

1970s

Mark Haas, ’74 MA ’76, is the chief operating officer of the Bureau of Investments in the Michigan Department of Treasury. He manages staff responsible for investing more than $58 billion in assets for the state of Michigan and the public school employee retirement funds. He and his family live in East Lansing.
Candace C. Dugan, MA ’75, joined Warner Norcross & Judd LLP of Holland as senior counsel.

Douglas J. Holtz, ’75, of Harleysville Insurance, Harleysville, Pennsylvania, was named the 2006 recipient of the Mark Gray Award, given by the Central Indiana Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Chapter to a member who demonstrates commitment to the local organization, the national CPCU Society, and the insurance industry in general.

Julia LaChapelle, ’76 MA ’85, is a guidance counselor and student council adviser at Park View Middle School in Mukwonago, Wisconsin. She was chosen co-winner of the 2006 Region IV Adviser of the Year award from the Wisconsin Association of Student Councils.

James M. Schuler, MA ’77, has published Understanding Organizations and Management through Triangle Analysis and Performance. He teaches as an associate graduate faculty member for CMU’s off-campus program’s eastern region.

Donna L. Ullrich, ’77, is a partner in the new Protocol Consulting Group Inc., a business that provides individual and group etiquette coaching for businesses, social and service organizations, and youth programs.

1980s

Laura (Brown) McGuire, ’82, was one of 20 CMU staff members to received the 2006 Staff Excellence Award. She is editor of bulletins for the academic affairs office.
Zoe Robinette, ’85, is president of Studio A, an Oakland, California-based corporation specializing in corporate health fitness and injury prevention. Robinette and her team works on-site for Fortune 100 companies on ergonomic and fitness issues.

David S. Flower, ’86, was named vice president of commercial banking for Independent Bank South Michigan.
Mike DeVilling, ’89, was promoted to executive vice president of John Bailey & Associations Inc., a public relations firm based in Troy. He and his wife, Jana, and their three daughters live in Rochester Hills.

1990s

Andy Rowles, ’92, earned her Master of Business Administration degree with honors from Michigan State University.

Kim Skeltis, ’94, was promoted to senior vice president of Strat@comm of Detroit and is co-leading the office as a managing director.
Kimberly E. Hunter, ’96 MS ’98 Ph.D. ’04, is an assistant professor of psychiatry and a clinical child psychologist at Medical University of Ohio, Toledo.

Timothy A. Gates, ’99, earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine last June. He also received the Medical Literary Achievement Award, given to a member of the graduating class who demonstrates excellence in investigational medical writing and presentation. He is specializing in neurosurgery.

Kristen L. Hunter, ’99, is an associate attorney at Honigman, Miller, Schwartz, and Cohn, Detroit.

Brian Spratke, ’99, and Rebecca (Freeman) Spratke, ’99, announce the birth of Isaac Joseph, born September 12, 2006. The family lives in Grand Rapids.

2000s

Steven Nicolet, ’01, was named director of the annual fund for the Kenan-Flagler Business School of The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He and his wife, Malea, have two children, Marisa and Ayla, and the family lives in Durham, North Carolina.

Nieta J. Scott-Dunmore, MSA ’01, a career federal civil service employee of 30 years, was promoted to the highest attainable grade. In December she began her new job as chief of the Strategic Assessment Division, U.S. Army Manpower Analysis Agency.

Chris Trierweiler, ’02, was promoted to the President’s Club of Rock Financial’s Farmington Hills branch. He assists Michigan clients with their home purchase or refinancing needs. He lives in Howell.

Kimberley Fischer-Kinne, MBA ’03, was named director of career services at Northwood University, Midland.

Andrea Eberline, ’05, joined McCann Erickson advertising and marketing firm in Birmingham as an account coordinator.

Elyse R. Packard, ’05, was named state director of Universal Cheerleading Association – Michigan. The job involves setting up cheerleading camps, clinics, and competitions for Michigan high schools and colleges.

Phillip Collins, ’06, and Tina (Lloyd) Collins, ’98, announce the birth of their first son, Benjamin William, born August 23, 2006, in Grayling. Tina teaches at Roscommon High School. The family lives in the Higgins Lake area. •
